The copper iridescent color adds a lot to the quilt. There is one other thing worth mentioning. In the photograph, the beautiful hummingbird seems much closer to the viewer than the flower he is drinking from. Do you see this same effect in the actual quilt? I wonder if there is a way to make the flower come forward with the bird? Brighter truer color in the flower might work. Adding the complementary color of the flower to the background around the flower, or adding more detail to the flower might also work.
Hi, I am a quilt artist, but also work as an RN part time. I live in rural southern Oregon, have a wonderful and supportive husband, three children and two grandsons. Fabric art is my passion, and am waiting on the day when I can create all the time, without work getting in the way.
